Forming Good Habits

Welcome Back!

In this post, I will be talking about the art of forming good habits.

Certain stimuli can trigger habitual behaviour. Once you understand that, you can use this knowledge to change your habits.

  • Encourage better habits by changing your environment. Make your cues as obvious as possible. You will be more likely to respond to them. If you want to eat healthier, start by putting healthy snack on the table instead of putting them into the closet.

  • Use intentions that are implementable. Don’t be like, “I will eat better”. Instead, create a proper plan of action and set out when and where you will cultivate your habits.

  • Build temptations. Start with the end goal in your mind and what you will get from it. Humans are always motivated by the anticipation of the reward. Our brain not only releases dopamine (the feel-good hormone) when we do things that we love, but also when we anticipate them.

  • Making habits attractive will make you stick to them. Link the habit with a behaviour that you’re drawn to. For example, allow yourself to watch episodes of your favorite show while you are cycling at the gym.

  • Make the habit as easy as to adopt as possible. Reduce friction for good habits, increase friction for bad habits.

  • Use the 2 minute rule. Make any new activity feel manageable by only committing 2 minutes to it. This way, you can build easy achievable habits, and those can lead you on to greater things. Simply getting started is the most important step!

  • Make habits immediately satisfying. When you’re pursuing habits that are not immediately satisfying, you will lose your interest and will not continue the habit.

  • Lastly, commit yourself to making a habit and never ever give up. Giving up may seem the easy way. However, not giving up is the very secret behind making a good and successful habit.

Thought of the Day:

“If you are going to achieve excellence in big things, you develop the habit in little matters. Excellence is not an exception, it is a prevailing attitude.”

'Today' is his ๐ŸŽ unto you

Welcome back ๐Ÿ˜€ ! Have you ever wondered why people like handmade gifts above all other gifts? The answer to this question is simple - You/They recognise the heart behind the gift and that makes the gift priceless . "A gift is not a material, but an outlook - to look out at the heart behind the material." -Mahatria Rฤ Even if the present is just a handmade flower or a greeting card, it would be one of the best gifts you would have ever got. Similarly , Education becomes a gift when you recognise the heart of the teachers who transfer their knowledge unto you . Your childhood becomes a gift when you recognise the heart of your parents in the upbringing. Friends become a gift when they stand by you not only in your good times but also in your tough times. Life becomes a gift when you realise its preciousness and its importance. In that sense, "Today" becomes an eternal gift . Always keep in mind that you may not live to see the "Tomorrow"

Excellence is Self-Explanatory

Welcome Back! We usually find ourselves giving justifications or explanations about something every other day. Don't we? For Example: You wanted to wake up at 6:00 AM. But instead, you wake up at 6:10 AM.  Your goal was to make 40 lakhs but you made only 39. You appointment was at 4:00 PM but you turned up at 4:15 PM. You got 4 marks less than your target in an examination. In all these cases, there is a similarity - You fall short of your targets. You may need to provide justification and explanations regarding your actions in these cases . Sometimes, you may even argue. Normally , you have a tendency to explain, justify, reason and rationalise what's not okay as okay.We try our best to prove that something is okay even if it is not . This presses the self-destruction button of your life. Time and again, this lack of excellence will hurt you very badly in your life and hamper your goals. You will fall short of your target. Ultimately , you will not be able to do what y
