Translating Dreams To Reality

Welcome Back!!

Translating dreams to reality is not a stroll in a beautifully designed park. It resembles a tough marathon where everybody is ready to beat you.

Your strategy to win this marathon should be based on the four - Ds :

  • Discover
  • Dream
  • Design
  • Deliver

We will go through these 4 - Ds together:

1. Discover:

  • Firstly, know your strengths and weaknesses with some external help from your family, friends and mentors.
  • Now, take some time and think about these things.
  • Reinforce your strengths and try to convert your weaknesses to strengths.
  • Develop a feeling of Self-efficacy. Self-efficacy is a feeling that you are capable of successfully finishing any given task.

2. Dream:

  • Now, dream on the basis of your strengths and your ability to find, catch and use opportunities.
  • A dream is a desire, even when it could be a mere fantasy. Try to make your strength of desire stronger.
  • If possible, try to dream on the basis of self-efficacy too.

3. Design:

  • This is a crucial step of designing a workable, ambitious, optimistic action plan.
  • Make a list of resources that you need.
  • Collect those resources.
  • Learn how to utilise those resources properly.
  • Make a plan on how to acquire relevant skills, knowledge, and polish your talents.

4. Deliver:

  • The final step is to Deliver your action plan.
  • Forge ahead with self-confidence, self-leadership, self-efficacy and intrinsic motivation.
  • Deliver your action plan with passion, skill, knowledge, experience, courage, commitment and determination. Do not rest till the goal is reached.

Thought of the day:

"The difference between a successful person and others is not a lack of strength, not a lack of knowledge, but rather a lack in will"

Excellence is Self-Explanatory

Welcome Back! We usually find ourselves giving justifications or explanations about something every other day. Don't we? For Example: You wanted to wake up at 6:00 AM. But instead, you wake up at 6:10 AM.  Your goal was to make 40 lakhs but you made only 39. You appointment was at 4:00 PM but you turned up at 4:15 PM. You got 4 marks less than your target in an examination. In all these cases, there is a similarity - You fall short of your targets. You may need to provide justification and explanations regarding your actions in these cases . Sometimes, you may even argue. Normally , you have a tendency to explain, justify, reason and rationalise what's not okay as okay.We try our best to prove that something is okay even if it is not . This presses the self-destruction button of your life. Time and again, this lack of excellence will hurt you very badly in your life and hamper your goals. You will fall short of your target. Ultimately , you will not be a...

Forming Good Habits

Welcome Back! In this post, I will be talking about the art of forming good habits. Certain stimuli can trigger habitual behaviour. Once you understand that, you can use this knowledge to change your habits. Encourage better habits by changing your environment. Make your cues as obvious as possible. You will be more likely to respond to them. If you want to eat healthier, start by putting healthy snack on the table instead of putting them into the closet. Use intentions that are implementable. Don’t be like, “I will eat better”. Instead, create a proper plan of action and set out when and where you will cultivate your habits. Build temptations. Start with the end goal in your mind and what you will get from it. Humans are always motivated by the anticipation of the reward. Our brain not only releases dopamine (the feel-good hormone) when we do things that we love, but also when we anticipate them. Making habits attractive will make you stick to them. Link the habit with a behaviour tha...

Ego never accepts the truth

Welcome Back! Everyone goes through this phase of life where the ego drives one to do anything and everything only to get noticed and recognised . It is a phase when good is good only when it gains attention; even bad is good if it can draw attention . Also, good is bad when it fails to gain attention. Ego survives on gaining attention. However, one must outgrow that phase of life. Ego needs feeding ; and hence it is regarded as a beggar . The problem with ego is that when ego is fed , you struggle with the superiority complex , and when ego is starved, you suffer with the inferiority complex . It destroys your peace of mind. People have lost many precious relationships while trying to satisfy their ego. They should have sacrificed their ego, but they didn’t. Remember, Ego is never worth the losses. People have also lost many golden opportunities while they were servicing their ego. They should have done the other way, but they could not. Ego destroys your freedom of choice. There i...
